PSP2

The rumors of a PSP2 coming out in the near future have been circling the internet for some time now but now it seem more than ever that these rumors our starting to become a reality. According to well known gamer site ‘Pocket gamer’ an anonymous source has claimed that there will be a psp2 released for Christmas 2009. The prototype of this suspected PSP2 is claimed to have no UMD drive this is said to give it a more elegant look. Also claimed by ‘Pocket gamer’s’ anonymous source is that this UMDless PSP has a touch screen that slides open like a palm pilot. And if that wasn’t enough it sounds like Sony has heard all the whining and bickering of the public and installed two analogue sticks. I’ll certainly be keeping my eyes on June which is when the PSP2 is said to be revealed at this years e3 If these rumors our true this could be a very important and sexy (check out the concept art below) year for handheld entertainment http://www.techdigest.tv/psp2-concept2.jpg

Pandora Battery

Have you ever thought how much fun it would be to play Mario Brothers on your PSP? Then you find out that it isn’t for sale by Sony? Have you ever wanted to watch The Shining on your PSP but have not been able to get the official Sony disk? Well, you are now in luck! PandoraSales.com sells a Pandora Battery firmware installer that will unlock your PSP in minutes & allow you to play/watch those games and videos!

You might be wondering what the advantages are to unlocking your PSP, The virtual “lock” that is on your PSP is firmware. Firmware is the software that manufacturers distribute that allows your PSP to play games, and movies as well as control what types of games and movies the PSP accepts. If you unbrick or downgrade the PSP you are opening your PSP to so many more games and movies than Sony distributes. The other nice part about unlocking your PSP is that you can make your own movies and not have to pick from the meager selection of movies that Sony releases.

However, being able to control the content you can use on your PSP is not the only thing that the Pandora battery does. You can also upgrade/downgrade your firmware. Sometimes this can come in handy when a firmware upgrade shuts off some functionality that you really enjoyed having on your PSP. You can even install your own custom firmware that might allow you to have some features that Sony either does not want you to have or has not thought of on it’s own yet.

Wait, how do I make a Pandora Battery? That in itself is very intriquite and complicated. It’s better to buy a Pandora battery you know will work. PandoraSales.com gets them directly from the factory. They come with a variety of different sized memory sticks. One of the things that you can do with an unlocked PSP is fit many more games than usual onto a memory stick. This allows you to load games faster and can even improve the speed of game play. PandoraSales.com only deals with PSP Pandora Batteries and They know what they are doing when they put together their packages here in Florida. They also make sure that you get them at the lowest possible price as soon as possible. You can buy Pandora Batteries that fully unlock your PSP or you can buy Pandora Batteries that switch back and forth from locked to unlocked mode.

If you own a PSP, do you really want to be tied down by the movies, games and settings that Sony and other providers make available to you? Buying a Pandora Battery lets you unlock your PSP to many more possibilities. You can choose what games you want, even if Sony does not provide the game, you can create the game yourself. You can choose what movies you want, if Sony does not give you the game, you can still watch your movies on your PSP. Finally, you have the ultimate control of what features your PSP does and does not have. Buy a Pandora Battery for your PSP to unlock it, and then see what amazing capabilities your PSP will have.

Hats off to the Better Half

This post I would like to talk about my latest TOY/PSP adventure.

All thanks the greatest better half on the planet. I now have my hot little hands on a New 2001 that I got for x-mas (unfortunately it’s a TV88v3 but hey I don’t need it hackable for this) And Then the love of my life got me a LocationFree LFb10. This is probably the kewlist setup for the PSP yet. With this hook up you can watch and control your TV and one other device with your PSP over your local wireless network or any where on the planet your PSP can get online.

This can be handy when you want to watch the game wile sitting on the porch firing up the grill or if your on the road and want to catch your local news or watch an episode of something you recorded on your DVR.

Now I will tell you it takes a bit to get it set up. It also does not come with every thing needed to set it up. YOU WILL NEED an Ethernet Cable and a couple sets of AV cables (the yellow white red ones). Once you have all this if you can set up a VCR you can figure out how to hook this thing up.

It also comes with software to hook up 1 computer to it as well. So if you have a laptop you can use that all over instead of a PSP. To get the PSP to work is really quite easy just make sure you have the newest firmware and use the login and password set ups under the LocationFree Player Icon in your Networks folder.

So far this toy has been very fun and with a cellular modem set up I can take my cable TV on my PSP any place I go with my camper. (high-tech camping? isn’t that an oxymoron?)

Now as for costs the LFb10 now is the oldest and lowest one on the totem pole and we got this one for 50.00 off eBay new unopened. You can get them factory refurbished from SONY for about 100.00 or NEW for 199.00. Like I said you will need a couple cables. 15 bucks worth the cables at your local RadioShack. So once again you can get around paying top dollar for stuff just by looking around a bit. All total under 75.00 for TV on your PSP any place you can get net access with it.

Ipod accessories have a use!

Today I would like to talk about using some of the accessories for the Ipod for the PSP.

The one I personally use most is an FM transmitter that plugs into the lighter in my truck. This is very handy in that you plug it into the lighter and plug the other end into the headphone jack on the PSP. This allows you to listen to your audio files on your PSP over your vehicles sound system. I like this even better then an Ipod. With the PSP I can bring multiple memory sticks with multiple books, music, games and movies on the road with me. (It can be quite fun blasting things with the car stereo cranked) The FM transmitter costs anywhere from 15-50 dollars depending on options and quality.

Oh and you know all those cute n cuddly things that dance and move around to the music for Ipod like the Idog… they all work for the PSP as well. Pretty much any thing that is controlled by audio out and uses a standard ¼ inch headphone jack will work for the PSP as well.

There is so much more to the PSP then just your every day hand held gaming system.  With this blog I hope to cover much more of what it can do and what there are plans for it to do. I will also be reviewing new products that I purchase from PandoraSales.com.

One more thing.... Stop on over to the forums at PandoraSales.com it is growing into a nice community

Mostly Harmless

Well lets start off by saying a thank you to the peeps at PandoraSales.com for giving me the opportunity to do this blog.

The main thing I would like to do with this blog is to discuss what else the PSP can do other then Games and also to review new products and for a lack of a better term attachments for the system as well.

For the first one out of the gate lets go with a big one that a lot of people are wondering "when will this hit the US" and that is the PSP-290 aka the GPS for the PSP. Wile sony has been saying that we will see it in the US from early 2007 for some reason they have not released it. Fear not. there is a way to get the PSP-290 to work just fine here at home.

what you will need.

PSP-290

PSP running open-edition firmware 3.03 OE - B

Homebrew app MAP THIS! (does support UK as well)

This gives you a fully functioning GPS made out of your PSP. It has turn by turn directions, street finder even has gas stations and all the workings of a high end GPS. Total cost of all of this is less then 100.00 after shipping that is obviously not including the cost of the PSP.

The PSP-290 just uses your USB port on top of the PSP and screws into the the little mounts up there to hold it in place. The first time it boots up with the software it can for some odd reason take up to 2 min to load but after that it is quick. The app is very easy to use and is very self explanatory.

I will start off the reviews of product additions to the PSP by covering a cheep one that I personally find to be worth it and yes it is one they stock at PandoraSales.com. The Skins. These are a great way to add that personal touch to your PSP. They are super easy to put on. They FIT!!! they actually are cut out where they are suppose to be! and to top it all off and they don't mention it on there site you can go online and D/L a back ground screen pic that matches exactly the skin! SO for 10 bucks make sure you order one of these when you order your MMS and Battery.

Well that is it for my first installment  (at times it sounds like i am sucking up to PandoraSales.com but YES I AM!!! They have givin me the opportunity to do this blog as well as provided me with great products and service)
